New London, NH-Knut Thorsø, 88, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at The Clough Center in New London where he had resided for the past two years.

He was born in Trondheim, Norway on October 2, 1923 the son of Sigurd and Hannah (Hansen) Thorso. He spent his early years in Norway and served in the Merchant Marines before moving to the US.

Mr. Thorsø lived in Augusta, ME for many years before moving to Westbrook ME and then relocating to NH in Croydon, and finally settling in Newport.

While in Maine he worked for Hudson Pulp and Paper which Later became Statler Paper Co. Mr. Thorsø spent a great deal of time at the Newport Senior Center and made many friends there. He was quite a talented artist enjoying painting and also loved to play the harmonica. He loved spending time with his wife's family.

Members of his family surviving include his wife, Marion Altheiser Thorsø of New London, NH; two daughters, Wendy and her husband, Lee Pelletier of Hope, ME and Tarilyn Thorsø of Portland, ME; a son and His wife, Kristian and Bente Thorsø of Norway; a stepdaughter and her husband, Brenda and Tom Chrimes of Newport, NH; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jeffrey and Emily, Katy and Josh, Kristian and Sarah, Jason and Saralyn, Joel and Sara and Julianne and Einar; and 14 great grandchildren; step grandchildren, James and Jill Chrimes and their children, Brian and Heather of Newport, NH, William and Teresa Chrimes of N. Haverhill, NH, Michael and Riann Chrimes and their son, Christopher of Bradenton, FL and Susan Dandeneau of Sebring, FL. He was predeceased by his siblings: Jens, Thor, Synnøve, Morten, Svenn, Otto and Åge.

A memorial service will be held in NH at the Newport Senior Center on Tuesday April 3rd at 12:30 PM and also in Hope, Maine on Friday April 13th at 6:00 PM.
