Peter W. Shanks, 54 years of age passed away Aug 1, 2012 at the VA Hospital in White River Junction, VT after a short illness.

Peter will be greatly missed by his wife, Julia Brisbane and his children, Erica Steeves, her husband Chris and grandson Mac, of Alaska, Alyssa Shanks of Alaska, Brennan Shanks and his wife Jillian of Seaside, CA and Connor Shanks of Elkins, NH.

Peter retired in 1994 from US Army 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) stationed at Ft. Devens, MA. He graduated Valedictorian in 1998 from Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH and was a Kindergarten teacher at Windy Hill, the lab school at Colby-Sawyer College spanning 13 years until his passing. Peter touched many lives and was a “celebrity” in his own right in New London, recognized by children and parents alike wherever he was in town. We love and miss him so much.

No services will be held. He will be placed to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.
