Richard R. Scott

New London, NH-Richard R. Scott, 102, of Main Street died Monday, July 2, 2012 at Woodcrest Village.

He was born in Dorchester, MA on April 20, 1910 the son of Seymour B. and Jennie F. (Ring) Scott. He graduated from Quincy, MA High School in 1928 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of NH in 1932.

Dick had been employed by Bethlehem Steel Corp. Shipbuilding Division in Quincy for 23 years and in the Naval Ships Engineering Center, Navy Dept., Washington, DC for 11 years.

He was a member of The First Baptist Church of New London, the Wollaston, MA Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M., A.S.C.E.; Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, and the Country Squires.

He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy (Melendy) Scott and a brother, Donald W. Scott. Members of his family surviving include two sons, Robert M. Scott of Hanson, MA and William D. Scott of Aston, PA; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in Old Main Street Cemetery, New London, NH. Memorial contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 336, New London, NH 03257. Chadwick Funeral Service of New London, NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
