Lloyd “Pom” A. Pomeroy, 83, of Old Post Road, died Friday, June 22, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Boston, MA on June 30, 1928 the son of William F. and Mabel(Kenneson) Pomeroy. He graduated from Melrose, MA High School in 1947.
Pom owned a cottage in Newbury, NH since 1960 and moved here permanently upon retirement in 1983 while wintering in Brooksville, FL for 26 years. He worked in the Wakefield office for New England Telephone.
Pom served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW and the Brewster-Gould-Lee American Legion Post #25 of Newport,NH. He was also a member of the Brookridge Country Club and a former member of the John Cain Country Club (now Newport Golf Club).
Pom enjoyed skiing, golf, being by the lake, and sports of all kinds.
He was predeceased by two brothers, William Lee and Richard. Members of his family surviving include his wife of 54 years, Julia (Davenport) Pomeroy of Newbury, NH; a sister, Frances Smith of PA; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
A service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Newbury.
