Tilton, NH-Gordon G. Davis, 80, of Winter Street, died Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Veterans Home where he had resided since December.
He was born in Langdon, NH on June 3, 1931 the son of Ira E. and Georgia M. (Plummer) Davis. He spent his early years in the Langdon/Alstead Area and for most of his life lived in the Newport/Sunapee Area.
For 16 years he worked for Dorr Woolen Mill and part of the time he worked there nights and logged during the days. He enjoyed being outside and was a logger.
He was very proud to be a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Mr. Davis enjoyed yard sales and for a time lived in Wilmot with a big barn where he could have sales and store all of his treasures. He liked coin collecting and auctions. Mr. Davis had a wonderful collection of diecast cars which he donated to the Veterans Home and they have appreciated the gift immensely. He was an avid Red Sox fan.
His wife, Florence E. (Hill) Davis, died in 1996. Members of his family surviving include two sons, Dave A. and his wife, Sally Davis and Dennis G. Davis and his partner, Linda West all of Sunapee, NH; two daughters, Donna and her husband, Bill Larrow of Georges Mills, NH and Melissa A. Royal and her partner, Michael Draper of Sunapee, NH; 8 grandchildren, Bridget, Bradford, Kathleen, Corey, Joshua, Jason, Harley and Jesse; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, James E. Davis of Unity, NH; nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London with Mr. Fred Davis, officiating. Burial will be in Millwoods Cemetery, South Sutton, NH with military honors.
