Sunapee, NH-Sherri L. (Speed) Mastin, 74, died on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the New London Hospital in the presence of her family after a long illness.

Sherri was born in Cleveland, OH on July 14, 1937. Raised in the Ridgewood, NJ area, she graduated from Ridgewood High School where she met her husband, Robert E. (Rem) Mastin. Sherri and Rem moved to Sunapee in 1977 after many years of vacationing in the area. She became a well-known fixture in the Sunapee area through her work as a real estate appraiser and assessor. She also spent many years as a volunteer at the Sunapee Library. Sherri will always be remembered for her annual Egg McMastin breakfast at her home to benefit the Library.

A lover of animals, Sherri could be found most every afternoon around 4:00 at the farm of Doug and Joyce Richardson to feed the animals. Watching the animals be born and grow brought her great joy.

Most of all, Sherri will be remembered for her sense of humor. Her telling of the simplest story could reduce a room of people to helplesss laughter and tears.

Sherri is survived by her husband of 53 years, Rem Mastin; two sons, Richard Mastin and his wife, Teresa of Sunapee, NH and Ross Mastin and his wife, Mary of Syracuse, NY. She also leaves behind her sister, Deanne Dewar Newark, DE; many nieces and nephews and two grandchildren.

Sherri has requested no flowers and has asked us, her boys, Rem, Rick and Ross to thank all of you, the wonderful folks that have helped her during this difficult time. We must also add a special thank you to all the caring professionals at VNA/Hospice in New London, whose extraordinary care and gentle, loving support was generously extended to the entire family. There will be no services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association, P.O. Box 2209, New London, NH 03257.
