June Elizabeth Hislop Miller

New London, NH – June Elizabeth Hislop Miller, 86, of King Hill Road, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in New London.

She was born in New London, Connecticut on July 3, 1925, the daughter of Benjamin and Rose M. Hislop. In 1947, she married Francis (Herb) Miller, Jr. in Mt. Kisco, New York.

Mrs. Miller attended Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont; Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut; and was a graduate from the Wilson School of Nursing and Medical Technology and the Williams School. Mrs. Miller was employed as a registered medical technologist and nurse at the Burke Foundation and was in charge of the clinical laboratory at the Foundation until 1953. She was also a research assistant to George Draper, M.D. at the Foundation and at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University.

Mrs. Miller served as a Hospice Volunteer in both Connecticut and New Hampshire. She was a board member of the Visiting Nurses Association (Connecticut), a member of the Wilmot Congregational Church and a long time member of the Lake Sunapee Yacht Club. Her children, dogs and horses were her major interests in life.

Mrs. Miller is survived by three sons – Robert Kipp Miller of Hancock, New Hampshire; Jeffrey B. Miller of Marlborough, New Hampshire; and James H. Miller of Canterbury, New Hampshire; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association Hospice, P.O. Box 2209, New London, NH 03257 or to Upper Valley Humane Society, 300 Old Route 10, Enfield, NH 03748.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on May 9, 2012 at 4pm in West Part Cemetery, County Road, New London, New Hampshire. Chadwick Funeral Service of New London, NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
