Andover, NH-Ella (Pinard) Phelps, 83, of North Street, died Saturday, April 28, 2012 at her home. She was born in Wilmot Center, NH on Dec. 15, 1928 the daughter of Warren and Ethel (Grace) Pinard.
Ella lived most of her life in Andover and graduated from Andover High School in 1946. She and her husband, Victor, were partners with the Curriers, owning and operating Currier & Phelps, Inc. While Vic and Clyde Currier were busy at the garage, Ella and Shirley Currier ran the Currier & Phelps Village Store for 20 years.
She was a member of the Blackwater Grange and the Andover Service Club. Ella volunteered for the Andover Historical Society. She enjoyed camping, yard sales, crafts, reading, birdwatching and especially spending time with her family at various gatherings.
She was predeceased by siblings, Ellsworth Dean, James Dean, Lewis Pinard and Nettie Ludwig. Members of her family surviving include her husband of 64 years, Victor H. Phelps of Andover, NH; three children and their spouses, Cynthia and James Alley of Londonderry, NH, Karen and James Hanson of Claremont, NH and Douglas and Alita Phelps of Andover, NH; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Alley and his significant other, Melissa Hardwick, Beth and her husband, Corey LeBreton, Suzanne Alley and her wife, Samantha Genier, Michael Hanson and his wife, Dr. Jennifer Holzinger, Katherine and her husband, Brian Cohen, and Tracey Phelps; six great grandchildren, Matthew, Allison, Benjamin, Ella, Clara and Allison; nieces and nephews including a special nephew and his partner, Steve Smith and Donna French of Andover, NH.
Friends may call at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 4-6 P.M. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with burial to follow in Proctor Cemetery, Andover, NH.
