Warner, NH-Edgerton F. Hyde "Tony", 92, of Warner, died March 24, 2012 at the Concord Hospital.

Tony was born March 29, 1919 in New York City, son of the late Fillmore and Sylvia (Hyde) Hyde. He grew up in Loudonville, NY with his mother and stepfather, Richard Douglas. He graduated from Hill School in Pottstown, PA and attended Yale University. During WWII, he served in the Army as a Captain in the 10th Mountain Division. While serving in Italy, he was awarded the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and numerous other honors. In his eighties he wrote an extensive memoir of his military service. His war service was also documented in the book, We Went to War, New Hampshire Remembers, published by Monitor Publishing Co. in 2008.

After the Army, Tony was a sales representative, and an entrepreneur, owning a ski lodge at Sugarbush Valley, VT and a manufacturing business in Warner, NH. The love of his life, however, was his skiing. For many years, he very successfully raced in the Eastern Regional Masters program. He was also an avid sailor and played tennis well into his 80's.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth "Ronnie"; daughters, Cathey Gage of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Anne Redding and her husband, Brian of Waitsfield, VT, and Ellen Mayo and her husband, Chris of Warner, NH; a stepbrother, Edward Douglas of New York City; six grandchildren, Shea and Chad Murdock, Heidi and Caitlin Redding, and Brandon and Christopher Mayo as well as five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Varian and his stepson, Stephen Danaher.

As per Tony's request there will be no formal memorial service. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.
